Each GM must own 40 players on their MLB roster at the end of the Free Agent Auction Drafts. (2016 Update)
The draft will be a Slow Auction conducted on this website in the Free Agent Auction Draft thread.
We will auction off players in waves.
The 12 GM's each get to nominate 3 players for each wave. If a team does not have 3 roster spots open, that team will nominate only the amount of open roster spots that are available on their roster.
During each wave, you will be required to make the first bid on the player you nominate. The opening bid will always be $1. There may be a point in the auction draft that we will not require an opening bid, but that is at the discretion of the commissioner to move things along.
All players nominated must have a minimum of 250 MLB At Bats or 100 MLB Innings Pitched in order to be nominated. (2016 Update)
You will post your 3 nominated players on the proboards site by the assigned time frame.
Owners are limited to 3 bids per Free Agent. Any additional bids will be void. (2015 Update)
You can bid on as many players as you'd like in each wave, but you are also responsible for watching your own salary cap and roster spots. If you bid on or win a player but do not have the roster spot, the bid will be void. You must have enough cap room for the remaining players as well. So if you bid on or win a player for $10 and you have $15 total remaining in cap space with 6 more spots to be filled after this $10 player, you will be short by $1 and that bid will be void (minimum player amount is $1 and you have 6 spots with only $5 remaining).
When we are about to start a new wave, if a GM becomes unreachable without making his nominations I reserve the right to let another GM make his 3 nominations or to do it myself in order to not hold up the auction.
When you bid you only have to post annual salary that you are offering. You do not have to include the length of the contract. So bids should look something like this:
Brewers bid $1
0
Minimum Bid intervals are every $1. (Examples $11, $12, $13, etc.), however you can bid whatever amount you would like. The winning bid is the amount of the highest bid.
Bids are won when your bid holds for 12 consecutive hours.
*****(Example: If the 12 hour period ends at 11:30, a bid at 11:30 the next day will not count. A bid at 11:29 will count and restart the clock.)
After the auction we will take care of the contract lengths.
Contract lengths will work like this:
You may assign contracts for your players for a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 5 years. There is a 10% salary inflation rate for each year you keep a player starting with the 3rd year of contract. There is no minimum amount of players you can keep each year and there is no maximum (well, 35 would be the maximum) as long as when the next season comes along you are at or below the Salary Cap.
There is no restructuring of contracts allowed. Please read and understand the rules prior to assigning your contracts and ask any/all questions you have prior to assigning contracts.
1 week after the draft has been concluded, contract lengths must be decided and posted either on your team page or emailed to the commissioner. The commissioner will post the date that contract decisions must be made. Failure to set contracts by the date can result in all contracts being assigned for 1 year.
MATCHING BIDS
Teams who hold rights for free agent matches have 24 hours to decide to match the winning bid. Each team is responsible to checking this website to keep track of their players. IF the team does not respond...player is awarded to the winning bid team. Reminder...each team can choose to match ONE free agent contract.
